I always check electronics out before installing them and it was a good thing I did, the first unit was defective so I returned it for a replacement. I am a dedicated Amazon shopper and their return policy is one of the primary reasons. The replacement was shipped overnight even though I had purchased the first unit with 2-day shipping on my Prime account. I just installed the new unit recently so I don't have any long term experience with it. However, my first impressions are very favorable. I bought a unit from a competitor but was totally disappointed because it had a mirror monitor that washed out completely on a bright day and the license plate camera image was very poor in low light so the only time there was a viewable image was on an overcast day.
